Gas Compressor Maintenance

(5 days)

For: Supervisors, engineers and operations managers responsible for sizing, purchasing or operating gas compressors.

A quick review of the pertinent gas laws and compressor technology allows you to readily learn to size compressor cylinders for single and multi-stage compressors. You learn to develop and interpret performance curves. Troubleshooting techniques result from an understanding of the component parts and the principles of operation. You become familiar with the accessory equipment, including scrubbers, pulsation bottles, heat exchangers and the like, including how they became integrated into a compressor package. The regular working of compressor problems in class insures the full understanding of the principles.

Major Topics Covered:

  • Terminology

  • Single Stage Design

  • Single Stage Compressor Operation

  • Two Stage Compressor Design

  • Two Stage Compressor Operation

  • Determination of Safety Set Points

  • Determination of Capacity from P-V Diagram

  • Lines, Scrubbers and Pulsation Bottles
