Depth Migration

This course covers the fundamentals of using prestack depth migration in exploration. The course begins with an overview of basic migration models including a comparison of time migration and depth migration approaches.

The key to using prestack depth migration is having a good velocity model. The issues associated with building a velocity model for depth migration are discussed. After finishing the course, students will be comfortable with the types of problems that can be solved using prestack depth migration. In addition, students will better understand the requirements of the velocity model used for prestack depth migration.
