Well Control for Workovers

(5 days)

For: All industry personnel associated with workovers, including managers, engineers, drillers, toolpushers, consultants, company representatives and operations managers. Offered on a tailored basis to those who do not require an MMS certificate.

Discover all aspects of workover planning and procedures necessary to avoid a kick, identify a kick, kill a well safely and quickly, and avoid a blowout, whether below ground or above ground. The course adapts all of the known technology of blowout prevention on drilling wells to the different workover configurations, with respect to differences in casing protection, downhole tools, and customary rig equipment. You acquire all of the separate and distinct technology of blowout prevention on workovers, resulting from the analysis of numerous kicks and blowouts during actual workover operations. Learn how to safely remove or replace a Xmas tree, and how to test it effectively. You will learn to apply the new multiple barrier concept to avoid special dangerous situations during workovers. You learn to distinguish between positive and conditional barriers to save lives, wells and rigs.

A drilling BOP school is no substitute for this course.
