Heavy Oil Technology

(5 days)

For: Engineers and managers associated with the production of very low gravity crude

Become expert in the key technology currently used in recovering low gravity crude oil by thermal methods. Become proficient in steam stimulation, steamflooding (including hot water injection), and in-situ combustion. Get to know all advantages and disadvantages of each process. Emphasis is on reservoir behavior (including screening criteria), methods of predicting recovery and current field experiences.

If you produce low gravity crude or operate any thermal recovery projects, you can't do without this knowledge.

Major Topics Covered:

  • Introduction

  • Thermal Properties of Rock-Fluid Systems

  • Thermal Properties of Water and Steam

  • Heat Transfer Processes

  • Cyclic Steam Stimulation

  • Steamflooding; Steam Injection Equipment and Surface Facilities

  • In-Situ Combustion

  • Current Field Experience
