Gas Lift for High Volume Producers

(5 days)

For Engineers, field superintendents and managers operating high rate wells

Learn the entire spectrum of continuous flow gas lift as applied to high rate situations (2,000-150,000 BPD total liquid). You will investigate all aspects of inflow performance, multi-phase flow and nodal (systems) analysis, from which you will conceive a logical and convenient system for optimization of total installation design. Learn about valve mechanics and alternative valves and a variety of unloading methods are considered. You work with a wide variety of well configurations, including annular vs. tubing flow; dual string design; and "dump lift" via high pressure gas zones. Discover troubleshooting skills by looking at the operational characteristics, with a major emphasis on practical problems and diagnosis of gas lift well operation. Emphasis is placed on field application and practical results. You examine and diagnose actual field examples, and you are invited to submit examples in advance for consideration during class. Two sets of gradient curves will be available for classroom and problem-solving sessions.

Major Topics Covered:

  • Principles of Gas Lift

  • Installation Types

  • Pressure & Temperature Surveys

  • Systems Analysis

  • Gas Lift Operations
