Comprehensive Waterflooding

(10 days)

For: Engineers, geologists and managers with some knowledge of reservoir engineering

Learn the reservoir and mechanical aspects of immiscible fluid displacement that applies to the secondary recovery of oil. Learn how to analyze waterflood performance, layout and build stations and plan revisions wisely. You become proficient in predicting the efficiency of oil displacement, by applying the steps in planning a flood, choosing the equipment, operating the flood and meeting regulatory requirements. There are frequent problem solving sessions for a balance between theory and practice. Learn to plan better floods and operate current ones wisely. This course can be taken as separate one-week modules entitled Waterflooding —Design Aspects and Waterflooding — Reservoir Aspects.

Major Topics Covered:

  • General Concepts

  • Efficiency of Oil Displacement by Water

  • Injection Rates and Pressures

  • Waterflooding Performance Calculations

  • Planning and Monitoring a Waterflood

  • The Physical Elements

  • Injection Station

  • Regulations

  • Cooperative Agreements

  • Building the System
