Casing & Cementing Technology

(5 days)

For: Rig supervisors; drilling, completion and workover engineers, geologists, drilling and operations management and regulatory personnel

You learn here the changes necessary to obtain effective and long-term hydraulic separation between different fluid sources in the wellbore—whether they be adjacent hydrocarbon zones or unwanted water productive intervals. You learn the fallacies that lead to popular misconceptions about the nature of cement against a porous media and the character of cement-mud displacement. Bury those myths forever.

You learn casing, cementing, and mud behavior such that the most important facets of the total job plan become apparent. The casing design segment utilizes graphic systems analysis techniques to optimize strength vs. cost of casing without increasing the time burden on the designer. You practice with that system! Emphasis is placed on practical results under typical field conditions. A balance is maintained between lecture and problem-solving and between theory and application.

Major Topics Covered:

  • Designing the Pipe String

  • Running and Handling

  • Primary Cementing Techniques

  • Evaluation

  • Squeeze Cementing
